VINTAGE TABU...The Forbidden Fragrance
This time I review a vintage bottle of Tabu by Dana, which differs from today's "cheap drugstore perfume" version of Tabu. Tabu was released in 1932 and was ahead of its time as an early "oriental" scent. It was like an "Opium" fragrance of its day. "Tabu...the forbidden fragrance". Also appearing in this video is Ezra, the Abyssinian-tabby cat. Music is Artie Shaw's song "Tabu". Update 1/32/18: Now offering a few 1ml decants of this perfume in my shop! https://www.etsy.com/listing/575497652/1ml-decant-vintage-tabu-by-dana-cologne?ref=shop_home_active_1

Guerlain VOL DE NUIT Eau de Toilette Review
Finally back with another video! Once again, house projects and expanding my resin jewelry Etsy shop (glamoluxe.etsy.com) has been keeping me busy. Here I'm reviewing a 1980s/'90s eau de toilette version of the Guerlain classic 'Vol de Nuit'. It's a rather delicate scent; pretty with a surprisingly pleasant opening note of petitgrain and a gently powdery drydown with violets and light vanilla. Song is Debussy's "Reverie"

Summer Scent Series I: 3 Refreshing Guerlains
In my first Summer Scent Series Video, I briefly touch on three of my favorite Guerlain scents to wear when the weather heats up: 1. Eau de Cologne du Coq (lavender, citrus, neroli, patchouli, sandalwood, oakmoss) 2. Eau de Cologne Imperiale (citrus, neroli, lemon verbena, rosemary, tonka bean, cedar) 3. Aqua Allegoria: Nerolia Bianca (neroli, bitter orange, orange blossom, petitgrain, orange)

Spring Scent Series 2: Guerlain Champs Elysees
Song: "Champs Elysees" sung by Lily Fayol, 1945. Continuing my Spring Scent Series, I'm exploring the small array of spring perfumes I happen to have found in my collection. Different from the "classic" Guerlains I'm used to is 'Champs Elysees,' released in 1996. With light fruits such as melon and peach, this is a blossoming spring bouquet of peony, lilac, lily of the valley, and mimosa, with touches of almond blossom, sandalwood, cedar, almond wood, and light vanilla. Wearing 'Marilyn' lipstick, available in my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/152429466/marilyn-cherry-red-eliza-vintage-color?ref=shop_home_active_48

'Apres L'Ondee' is an incredible composition by Guerlain, first launched in 1906. Created by Jacques Guerlain, it features main notes of violet and iris, supported by orange blossom, vanilla, orris root, anise seed, sandalwood, musk, cassia, heliotrope, bright citrus, and soft resins.

I have a little question at the end of the video for my followers! In 'Chypre,' the damp oakmoss, earthy patchouli, subtly spicy carnation, and cool iris all make me think of an island where a mysterious sorceress dwells...It's that mental image that inspired the editing style and score. I don't think others see the fragrance in this light, but it's how I interpret it whenever I smell it, so please understand that it's purely my personal impression. :) This is a review of the 1980s relaunch of the renowned 'Chypre' by Coty, which was first introduced in 1917. It was inspired by the island of Cyprus, where Aphrodite is reputed to have been born. While not the first ever chypre created, Coty's version was the first to establish the chypre family of perfumes. It's from his interpretation that the chypres we know today were derived.

ROCHAS 'FEMME' -- EdT vs EdP Comparison
'Femme' by Rochas is a relatively new acquisition to my collection. I own both the Eau de Toilette (EdT) and Eau de Parfum (EdP) concentrations, and the differences found in each illustrate the importance of testing variations before buying! While both versions contain the same notes, the amounts of each note varies, thus giving each concentration a different..."personality."

Spring Scent Series 1: OPIUM Vapeurs de Parfum
Winter is still hanging on in my hometown, and I'm so nostalgic for the scents of spring! While I don't have many perfumes that are technically deemed "spring specific," I've dug through my collection and found a handful that would be pleasant for wearing in the spring season. First in what will be a "Spring Scent" series of videos, is what I would suppose is a flanker of Opium by Yves Saint Laurent: 'Opium Vapeurs de Parfum', a "re-imagining" of the classic Opium fragrance. Notes: Mandarin orange peel, pink peppercorn, jasmine sambac, orange blossom, and vanilla. Wearing resin & chain tassel earrings from my Glam-o-Luxe shop, which you can find here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/583880882/diamond-tassel-earrings-in-gold?ref=shop_home_active_11

Shalimar Fascination Part 2: Bottle Tour
A little visual tour of my most interesting and most treasured Shalimar bottles, and some information on how I got them. I'm still using "Star Dust" in this video, as it was my grandmother's favorite, and I owe my love of Shalimar to her, despite being warned by YouTube it may need to be removed due to "copyright" claims. Something briefly addressed in the video is the issue of newer Shalimar parfums being sold on eBay as "vintage". Watch out for this if you're ever shopping for it! JOY by JEAN PATOU-- Eau de Toilette Review
I'm finally back with another video! 'Joy' by Jean Patou is a perfume with a bit of legend and lore. Released in 1930, it was described as the "costliest perfume in the world," and actress Vivien Leigh was said to have worn it frequently. Does it live up to the hype?

1955 'FLAMBEAU' by Faberge
Launched in 1955, Faberge 'Flambeau' is a floral chypre for women. This review is for the 1oz splash of "Cologne Extraordinaire". I didn't find this to be a fiery, flaming fragrance, but rather a powdery, light chypre reminiscent of scented lipstick and powder. Gentle and classy, yet memorable. Music is "Taboo" by Marty Wilson, from the 1959 album "Jun'gala".

BYBLOS by Byblos: Summer Scent Series II
Released in 1990, 'Byblos' by Byblos is a juicy, fresh fragrance with pineapple, passionfruit, raspberry blackcurrent, grapefruit, and peach, as well as gardenia, mimosa, jasmine, honeysuckle, lily of the valley, vetiver, and musk. Reviews on this one are mixed, but there are a lot of notes and a lot going on, so it's understandable that this fragrance will wear differently on some as compared to others. To me, it's cheerful and reminds me of something fun from childhood, while some reviewers say the lily notes become too overwhelming for them. So, probably not a good blind-buy for everyone! The nose for this fragrance is Ilias Ermenidis.

Spring Scent Series 3: VERSACE EROS Pour Femme, Eau de Parfum
Released in late 2014, 'Eros Pour Femme' by Versace is the "feminine" counterpart of the men's edition of Versace Eros from 2012. There are two versions, the eau de toilette being very different from the eau de parfum. This review is on the original, eau de parfum version of the scent. Notes: Pomegranate, lemon, bergamot, jasmine, peony, lemon blossom, musk, woodsy notes. A pleasant fragrance if you're looking for something fresh and light that's easy on the floral notes.

Pineapple Accord Creation!
In this video, I talk about the methods I used in the creation of a pineapple accord using synthetic aroma chemicals. As stated in the video, there are many different methods to achieve/create a particular accord, so you may have a different vision than mine, and that's completely fine. This was mostly an experiment to see if I could create a usable pineapple accord from aroma chemicals already in my perfuming "library." :) Where I buy my aroma chemicals: Perfumer's Apprentice: https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-107-perfumers-apprentice-shop-here.aspx Creating Perfume: https://www.creatingperfume.com/ The pina colada accord referenced can be found here (PDF file): https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/Images/sds/Key%20Accord%20Formula/pina%20colada.pdf

'SURRENDER' by Parfums Ciro -- A Special Vintage Find!
'Surrender' was released in 1932 by Parfums Ciro. Very little information is available online about the history of this house, but it seems to have been founded in New York, and the fragrances and bottles were produced in France. Clips are from the film 'Springtime in the Rockies,' from 1942.

'CLIMAX' (1945) -- by Parfums Blanchard
Prior to purchasing this fragrance, I had never heard of Blanchard Parfums before. Based out of New York City, they were in business from 1930 to around 1970, according to the blog Cleopatra's Boudoir. https://cleopatrasboudoir.blogspot.com/2014/01/parfums-blanchard.html 'Climax' seems to have the aldehydic top notes of Lanvin 'Arpege,' followed by a heart that's similar to a chypre like 'Mitsouko', with a more mild, powdery drydown. Other fragrances by Parfums Blanchard can be found on eBay and on Etsy, and are relatively reasonably priced. Here are a few listings I found: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Intrigue-Bouquet-perfume-Parfums-Blanchard-New-York-5-oz-50-full/182483365104?hash=item2a7cdb2cf0:g:UpEAAOSwB-1YwbEu:sc:USPSFirstClass!49423!US!-1 This particular Blanchard perfume was found at: LaurelMountainShoppe.etsy.com http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/263398042629?vectorid=229466&lgeo=1&item=263398042629&rmvSB=true Lipstick is 'Irene,' available here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/526737423/irene-rosy-pink-red-eliza-vintage-color?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=eliza%20cosmetics%20irene&ref=sr_gallery-1-1 Earrings are from my fakelite jewelry shop, GlamoLuxe.etsy.com

[Seems to be an odd error at 9:55 that I didn't spot before uploading, so I'm sorry for the awkward frozen frame there!] I hope everyone is doing well! Just an informal, impromptu video explaining why I haven't been uploading. Apologies for the pauses and all the "ums", haha. :) There have been some new changes at YouTube that, while not really detrimental to my channel, have put a slight damper on my enthusiasm.
